ISP Metronet UK Opens its Fixed Wireless Network to Wholesale

Tuesday, Aug 9th, 2016 (11:14 am) - Score 1,272

Business-focused ISP Metronet UK has today announced that their fibre optic fed fixed wireless broadband network, which is available around parts of Greater Manchester and Bradford (plus a few other major locations too), has been opened to wholesale

The ISP has tended to focus on connecting businesses in poorly served urban areas, such as those that have in the past been overlooked for an upgrade by the likes of BT and Virgin Media.

At present the operator claims to have a “solid referral and reseller platform” that works with over 220 partners across the United Kingdom. Metronet UK perhaps hopes that today’s move will thus enable some of those partners to help maximise the uptake of their network.

Tony Hughes, Metronet (UK)’s Sales Director, said:

“This is a great time of growth for Metronet (UK), having seen 33% revenue growth in the past 12 months we know we are on the right path. Our channel offering is a big part of our business and we now see over 60% of new business come through our channel partners. Our wholesale platform will push this even further, we are currently in the process of on-boarding partners to the platform and look forward to welcoming many more.”

Apparently the wireless network is said to offer “major benefits“, including reduced lead times, quicker revenue and no excess install charges. “Businesses today need and want internet connectivity readily available to them as soon as possible and by partners using Metronet (UK)’s wholesale platform they can give their customers access to wireless connectivity in half the time than traditional fibre connectivity,” said the ISP.

Metronet UK’s Wireless Network Coverage

North West – Greater Manchester, Chester, Liverpool, Preston, Warrington, Merseyside, Burnley & Crewe

North East – Leeds, Bradford, Newcastle & Gateshead

Midlands – Greater Birmingham & Tamworth
