Aylesbury Vale Broadband’s Buckinghamshire FTTH Network in Hoggeston

The £700k publicly funded Aylesbury Vale Broadband project in rural Buckinghamshire (England) has now extended the ducting network for their ultrafast Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) service to the village of Hoggeston, with neighbouring Littlecote also being within sight.

The new broadband network, which is supported by the local Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC), is already reaching homes and businesses in villages like Granborough, North Marston and they’re also about to connect their first live customers in Swanbourne.

Meanwhile the first few months of 2017 are being spent on the civil engineering work needed to reach Stewkley, Oving, Soulbury and Drayton Parslow. However before that they’re also aiming to connect some of the smaller communities on the way, which makes sense when you look at a map of their tentative roll-out locations.

Hoggeston is home to just over 100 people and Littlecote is positively tiny, while AVB’s primary targets are all much larger villages with populations in the hundreds or even the low thousands. But it’s good to know that some of the smallest villages are also able to benefit. Apparently Dunton may also be within their sights, but this has yet to be formally agreed.

AVB Progress Update (Jan 2017)

Our ultrafast fibre broadband infrastructure is now in the middle of Hoggeston. We still have a few small jobs to do (installing chambers along the ducting route, etc) which should be complete by the end of next week. After this we will deploy our fibre into the ducting.

At about the same time our expert civils contractors will start work on the streets of Hoggeston rolling out our fibre infrastructure to your property boundaries. Once this work is complete we can start connecting your to our fibre network and you can be connected to the Internet at ultrafast speeds.

At the same time we will start work delivering our broadband service to Littlecote. We are currently holding discussions with Dunton but we also hope to be able to include Dunton in this roll out (while we are in the area). There is still plenty of work to be done but we are on schedule to have your hamlets connected to our fibre network by the end of March.

Customers of the new network typically pay from £30 per month for an unlimited 30Mbps (symmetrical) service, which rises to £38 if you want 100Mbps or £135 for the fastest 300Mbps package. A one-off connection fee of £150 also applies via the self-install method, but locals may have to pay more if they want it all to be professionally installed.
