MERRY CHRISTMAS 2014 from ISPreview.co.uk

Wednesday, Dec 24th, 2014 (1:05 pm) - Score 611

Wow that sure went fast! Christmas is finally upon us again and that generally means mince pieces with brandy source, repetitive xmas songs, lots of sparkly things and queues in the shops; including some where you actually have to queue just to get inside before queuing again to pay (e.g. Pandora). Not necessarily in that order.

As usual we’ll be taking a few days break to relax and spend some quality time with friends and family. ISPreview.co.uk will of course continue to be maintained as usual, but generally you shouldn’t expect to see much being posted until after Christmas. Of course we try not to write things while intoxicated as the impact is rarely favourable (“Yes, but that might be an improvement.. ho ho ho“, said the guy at the back).

But before we go it’s important to remember that ISPs are often short-staffed at this time of year, which can result in some frustrating issues with customer support; especially if you actually end up needing help over Christmas. Take note that there can sometimes also be a lot of Internet traffic on Christmas and Boxing Day due to people trying out new gadgets, sale shopping or video streaming TV shows they’ve missed, which may slow connectivity a little more than usual (this is of course very variable).

On top of that it’s also a well-known fact that some Christmas Tree Lights can cause interference with copper line broadband services (e.g. ADSL and FTTC/VDSL), which if you’re not careful might impact your connection stability or performance. So try to keep the lights well away from your router and make sure that you’re buying EU standards compliant kit rather than a cheap import.

Now with that in mind ISPreview.co.uk would just like to wish all of our readers a very happy holiday season and a Merry Christmas! See you all again soon. Now for something completely random..
