Metronet UK Expand Hybrid Fibre Optic and Wireless Network to Bradford

Manchester-based ISP Metronet UK has announced that their hybrid superfast fibre optic and wireless broadband network has now been expanded to cater for businesses within the city of Bradford in West Yorkshire (England).

According to Metronet UK, Bradford has “suffered from poor connectivity and many areas have never had upgraded superfast services“, although we note that a fairly significant proportion can already get a connection via Virgin Media’s cable network and BTOpenreach’s FTTC/P “fibre broadband” platform.

However experiences do vary and local businesses may well be on the back foot in some sizeable areas. It’s also worth noting that local firms can take advantage of Metronet’s service by using the Government’s Connection Voucher scheme, which offers SME firms up to £3,000 to help them get a superfast broadband connection installed.

David Green, Leader of Bradford Council, said:

“We are delighted to have Metronet (UK) in Bradford, which means faster connectivity for local businesses. Another broadband provider also means some healthy competition for other more established providers.”

Lee Lawrence, Operations Director at Metronet (UK), said:

Businesses based in Bradford can benefit from Metronet (UK) being able to deliver faster connectivity, which is flexible and great value for money. Our wireless offering is the alternative to traditional services and will push Bradford forward into the modern digital era.”

The providers website states that they offer dedicated wireless leased lines with Internet capacities from 1Mbps and all the way up to 2Gbps, although we note that some parts of their hybrid network can also push to 10Gbps (Gigabits per second).
