Survey Claims UK Homes Losing Interest in Broadband and TV Bundles

A new Opinium survey of 2,002 UK adults, which was commissioned by ISP Zen Internet, has claimed that 2 million of the 10 million UK households that have a broadband and TV bundle are considering unbundling themselves from the package “due to a lack of value” and 1.7 million have already done so.

Government MPs Urge UK Councils to Support Gigabit Broadband

The UK Government has today called on local authorities to help support the roll-out of gigabit-capable broadband (FTTP, DOCSIS 3.1) and 5G mobile networks by, among other things, implementing new advice on land access and valuations in order to speed up the pace of deployment.

Crowd-sourced analyst firm Opensignal has today published new benchmarks of 5G based mobile broadband networks across 12 countries, which finds that the United Kingdom returns reasonable average download speeds of 133.5Mbps (vs 25.9Mbps on 4G). But we have the weakest level of network availability (4.5%).

£250k Full Fibre Boost for Homes and Businesses in Wyre

The case had been preventing the LOT 1 part of the deployment contract from being award to BT and thus delaying the roll-out of “superfast broadband” (30Mbps+).

Capita Sign £8m Contract to Connect Public Sites in East Cheshire

Capita has today signed a new 5-year £8 million contract with Cheshire East Council in England, which will see them roll-out a Wide Area Network (WAN) to help provide data services for over 500 public sector sites (e.g. local councils, schools, fire and police service etc.) in the county. A new WiFi network is also planned.
