Internet provider Call Flow Solutions has won an extension to their on-going pilot of a new hybrid fibre optic and wireless broadband network in rural Hampshire (England), which means that around 200 additional premises in the small village of Privett should also benefit from the service.

The Hampshire County Council in England has called on the UK Government to give district councils “clear legal powers” so they can insist, as part of the planning process, that superfast broadband speeds (24Mbps+) are made available to both new build homes and even retrofitted into existing developments.

The county of Hampshire in England can celebrate after it recently became the latest Broadband Delivery UK based Government programme with BT to complete its target of ensuring that 90% of homes and businesses can access “superfast” Internet download speeds of 24Mbps+ by the end of 2015.

BTOpenreach are currently reviewing their approach to the provision of Superfast Broadband (24Mbps+) at major housing developments and, as part of this strategy, the operator is evaluating a series of “free trials” for their 330Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) technology across the United Kingdom.

The Hampshire County Council (England) has signed a second £22.2m Broadband Delivery UK contract with BT under the Superfast Extension Programme (SEP), which will push superfast broadband (24Mbps+) connectivity out to an extra 34,500 homes and businesses (i.e. “at least” 95% of the local population) by “mid 2019 or earlier” (well past the national 2017 target year!).

The Hampshire Superfast Broadband project in England has today revealed the next communities (Phase Four) to benefit from the local state-aid supported deployment of BT’s FTTC/P based superfast broadband (24Mbps+) network, which aims to reach 90% of homes and businesses by the end of 2015 and at least 95% by the end of 2017.
