The John Henry Group, which helps to build new fibre optic broadband and telecoms infrastructure for major UK operators, has appointed the former Managing Director of Virgin Media Business, Mark Heraghty, to be its new Non-Executive chairman.
The move appears to be a wise one given JHG’s close involvement with Virgin Media’s Project Lighting network expansion. At present Mark Heraghty is currently a Non-Executive Director at data centre firm Interxion and a Strategic Advisor to SourceConnect.net, although before that he was also CEO of Cable & Wireless Europe and held various roles at Mercury Communications and of course VMB.
Mark Heraghty, Non-Executive Chairman of JHG, said:
“John Henry Group started as a family business and has become a very successful company with a strong culture, having grown considerably in the past few years.
It’s a very interesting business having developed excellent client relationships with UK network providers and delivering new innovations, such as narrow trenching.
What I would like to do is to give John Henry Group and its management team the benefit of my experience as the company continues to enjoy considerable growth, whilst ensuring the delivery of the best levels of service to its customers.”
Jim Henry, Director of the John Henry Group, said:
“Mark’s knowledge of the telecoms industry and his leadership experience will prove to be both vital and valuable as the John Henry Group enjoys an ongoing period of major growth.
Thanks to the hard work of everyone in our business and the continued boom and appetite for telecoms network enhancement in the UK, we have grown significantly over the past two years and Mark’s leadership and management experience will help us to continue to expand, manage and govern our business footprint responsibly and I would like to extend a warm welcome to him as he joins our business.”
The JHG has also put out a related interview piece.
