MetroNet UK Expands Fibre and Wireless Broadband Network to Liverpool

Business ISP Metronet UK has expanded the coverage of its hybrid superfast fibre optic (Dark Fibre) and carrier grade wireless network to reach areas of Widnes, Runcorn and Speke in Liverpool (Merseyside, England).

Metronet UK claims that the related areas have previously suffered from “poor fibre infrastructure“, which its new network aims to address. So far the following local business and trade parks have already been covered: Turnstone Business Park, Widnes Trade Park, Heron Business Park and Moor Lane Business Centre (plus surrounding areas).

Customers to the new service can expect to receive service speeds of 1Mbps to 10GBps (depending on product choice).

Lee Lawrence, Metronet’s Operations Director, said:

“Having Metronet (UK)’s new POP sites means that local businesses can have high speed connectivity that comes with great service and is cost effective. Traditional providers cannot match the level of service that we provide and in today’s world superfast connectivity is becoming as essential as electricity to businesses.

We can now deliver superfast connectivity within 5 working days of order and are looking forward to working in Widnes, Runcorn and Speke.”

The new Liverpool sites represent the first of the ISPs planned network expansions for 2013, which could also see the operator reaching into new areas of Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham and Crewe.

Last year Metronet UK claimed to have achieved “ubiquitous coverage” across the entire Greater Manchester region, which formed part of a massive £3m network build.
