Rural UK FTTP Broadband ISP Fibrus Donates £1m to Community Projects
Alternative network operator and ISP Fibrus has today revealed that they’ve surpassed the £1 million mark in terms of how much investment they’ve put toward community projects across Northern Ireland and Cumbria (England). This usually occurs in the locations where they’ve been rolling out their new gigabit-capable full fibre (FTTP) broadband network.
Of the £1m invested to date, more than £590,000 has been directed into communities across Northern Ireland, supporting grassroots organisations, sports clubs and local charities – this includes their Fibrus Community Fund, the Play It Forward scheme and its chosen local Charities of the Year programme.
The provider’s full fibre network, which recently achieved a positive take-up rate of 30% (here), currently covers over 450,000 UK premises; around 332,700 of those are in N.Ireland. Plus at the end of last year they also secured the £34.6m (public subsidy) Project Gigabit broadband roll-out contract for N.Ireland, which will see their network being extended to reach another 9,000 premises in the remotest locations (here).

New customers to the service currently pay from £24.99 per month for an unlimited 159Mbps (34Mbps upload) package with an included router and free installation, which rises to just £37.99 per month for their top 982Mbps (310Mbps upload) tier on a 24-month contract term.
