MS3 Communications has entered into a new partnership with another telecommunications developer, Compass Infrastructure UK (CI-UK), which will work alongside MS3 to help them build out their independent ultra-fast fibre optic broadband ISP network around Hull in Yorkshire (England).
On top of that MS3 has also confirmed that Phase 1 of their project to lay a new 116km long stretch of ultra-fast fibre optic broadband cable around the city, which will be used to connect local businesses, should be completed by Christmas.
Mid-Wales company Welch Civils, which won a £5.5m contract to hook-up the “first 50km” of MS3′s network in March 2012 (here), are currently busy putting the “finishing touches to small parts of the network” previously left incomplete.
Tony Hales, MS3′s Managing Director, said:
“First of all I’d like to welcome Compass UK to MS3. We are delighted to be working alongside them on our fibre network build in Hull. There are many exciting things going on behind the scenes at MS3 and there’s a lot more to come from us I can assure you of that. Teaming up with Compass allows us to take our network build on to the next level.”
Roland Reinders, CI-UK Director, said:
“We are delighted to be involved in this unique scheme and to offer our expertise and to be working alongside MS3. We believe that the first phase, and hopefully more to follow, will bring significant benefits to Hull and East Riding.
These are exciting times in communications, and to deliver a network that meets today’s standards in terms of speed and stability we are convinced that a quality focussed approach is vital.”
It’s understood that talks to secure the new partnership have been “on-going for a number of weeks” and follow shortly after the recent appointments of Phil Jones and John O’Connor to the MS3 board of Directors. Meanwhile MS3 have begun conducting site surveys and booking installations for customers who have already signed up to the new service.
Welch Civils are expected to return to work in the New Year (2013) to begin the network expansion plans for other areas of the City (Phase 2), which will focus on the East Hull and North Hull areas.
