Supermarket giant Tesco has started offering free broadband and calls for 12 months when taken alongside Home Phone line rental at £14.90 per month. Previously this promotion was only available to those who also purchased an Internet enabled device (e.g. tablet computer) from one of their stores.
As usual the discount only applies to those covered by Tesco’s unbundled (LLU) network, which is run using Vodafone’s platform (formerly C&W), and it should be noted that the package itself is also based off a 12 month contract so you should be able to leave after the first year is up.

It’s difficult to know where the profit margin resides for Tesco in this, although encouraging more shoppers into their stores might be part of the bargain. On the other hand a lot of bigger ISPs offer discounted line rental when pre-paid for 12 months and Tesco are instead using the more expensive monthly plan.
