Many more homes and businesses in the rural Worth Valley area of West Yorkshire (England, UK) can now gain access to “ultrafast broadband” speeds of 100Mbps+ after Boundless Networks expanded their fixed wireless network coverage with the help of local contractor Pennine Plus.
A few months ago we reported that residents of Slippery Ford in the same area had become some of the first to benefit from the new service (here). Since then the network has continued to expand and it’s now gone live across Wilsden, Stanbury, Haworth, Cross Hills, Oakworth, Oxenhope and Oldfield.
The ISP suggests that better broadband in the Worth Valley could eventually make a dramatic difference to as many as 15,385 residential and 1,263 business properties.
David Hood, Boundless Networks Chairman, said:
“We are really proud and pleased to be the provider of ultrafast broadband to the Worth Valley, bringing real, positive life changes and opportunities. We are investing in providing services that other providers say are not possible and I am proud to be able to deliver these services to local villages and communities.
We are currently working with public officials, organisations, businesses and residents within the Worth Valley to ensure we deliver improved broadband to everyone requiring it.”
Geoff Higgins, Pennine Plus Managing Director, said:
“It’s an incredible feeling to be a part of something such as this, to be able to provide these people with what is nowadays considered a basic necessity of modern day life, broadband. Not only have we been able to deliver ultrafast broadband to a remote area, we’ve given them the means to become part of the digital era and join the rest of the world, and we couldn’t be prouder of this achievement.”
According to the ISP’s website, home subscribers can take a download speed of 30Mbps (10Mbps upload) for £29.99 inc. VAT on a 12 month contract and with “unlimited” usage (Fair Usage Policy), which doesn’t include the one-off installation charge (this is usually around £150 and includes a broadband router but the cost may vary, depending upon your location).
The cheapest package available costs from £19.99 per month and offers symmetric speeds of 10Mbps, while the top 100Mbps (25Mbps upload) service costs £51.99 per month.
