Fixed wireless UK ISP Quickline (Bigblu Broadband) has put in a new planning application to install equipment on top of the Church of St Helen in the rural parish of West Keal (Lincolnshire), which could result in around 370 premises within a 10 mile radius gaining access to superfast broadband (30Mbps+) speeds.
Overall the network expansion, if approved, is expected to cover around 120 houses in West Keal, 210 houses in nearby East Keal, 39 in Old Bolingbroke and 6 in Hagnaby, could also benefit. According to the Lincolnshire Reporter, some areas within the predicted coverage currently struggle to get much more than a speed of just 1Mbps, although we note that superfast FTTC services from Openreach do come close to parts of the same area.
The planning application is now in the hands of East Lindsey District Council and until that is approved then it may be difficult to give a firm timescale for the deployment.

A Quickline Spokesperson said:
“We have looked at broadband provision and the picture tells a story which is typical of a many rural areas.
There are some villages which are close enough to a fibre enabled cabinet which will provide decent broadband speeds however, this is not the case for everyone.”
Packages from Quickline typically start at £29.99 per month for an unlimited 10Mbps (5Mbps upload) service and go up from there. Meanwhile installation ranges from FREE with a subsidy to £295 (one-off), depending on contract term.
