Anybody lucky enough to be covered by Gigaclear’s rural Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network may like to know that they’ve significantly discounted the price of their symmetrical 300Mbps and 900Mbps speed (average) packages, which also come with free activation (usually £30-£120) and installation.
The promotion, which looks set to be available on new orders until the end of June, means that their 300Mbps package (use the code GO300 during checkout) has been reduced from £45 to £35 per month and their 900Mbps+ package (use the code GO900 during checkout) has been reduced from £75 to just £55 per month. This discount lasts for the duration of the first 18 month contract term.
The downside is that at present their “full fibre” network has only been built out to cover 93,000 premises in rural parts of England, but just 66,000+ of those are currently considered to be fully ready for service. Gigaclear’s previous ambition was to cover 350,000 premises by the end of 2021 and possibly 500,000 by 2022, although this may have been dented by their recent deployment delays. Credits to Graham for spotting this offer.
Quite a slap in the face for customers who only recently joined Gigaclear. Appreciate existing customers are always hurt by these limited time offers. I wish more companies were applying discounts to existing customers.
Given how cheap GC are I don’t think they have much to moan about!
What a rather bizarre post, you may as well apply and post that to every ISP that runs offers at anytime. Posting that on the barrage of BT, Plusnet, Talk Talk and Virgin “offer” stories/item on here would of been a ‘better’ (to use the term loosely) whinge than posting on this item.
I’m an existing customer and upgraded from the GO300 to GO900 using the new customer deal. Granted they get more money from me but I get a triple speed increase for that. Worth asking…
Gigaclear again and again failing to roll out with Fastershire failing to make sure they do. Would love to get this but yet again they have pushed pack the timetable. Supposed to be Q1 this year after several years delay to roll out…but guess what… Yes failing in the Gloucester area yet again in particular the FoD.
No reduction in their business prices though – still an eye watering £570pm for their 900Mbps service.
Ducts and cabs installed over a year ago….. Still no fibre…..
Same here. They’re not completer-finishers are they!
We had a village sales meeting in mid 2016, promised completion by early 2017 by their sales director (have since been told by Gigaclear I shouldn’t have believed a salesman), delays delays delays, awful comms, finally started work late 2018, contractor kicked off site by them after H&S/quality/illegal work/asking residents for £750 cash to connect to their home/ numerous cut cables etc, promises to restart work, now nothing since Jan 2019, still have roadwork signs left in verges and damaged POTs and verges etc. Chasing them this week for an update – no response.
Same here.. CDS – North Somerset – everything installed 1 year ago, first ETA was March 2019, then June 2019; just contacted them as I saw that promotion but now it is Q3 2019, without any guarantees.. Very disappointing
I see this temporary price cut simply as a way for Gigaclear to get some press coverage. It won’t cost them much as almost nobody can get their service, and they have no other news to promote.
Are they having to slash prices as demand for the product is weak?
I imagine they want to be able to show a growth in the number of customers, but as they aren’t growing their network very fast at all they have to get growth by increasing the take up in their existing areas.
