We’ve just completed a refresh of our Broadband ISP Comparison (listings) section, which makes a few key changes that are intended to help simplify the system and reduce the workload involve with keeping it up-to-date – something that has become increasingly challenging with all the new providers entering the market.
In short, we’ve removed a number of sub-categories and simplified the system by only listing the cheapest superfast (24Mbps+), ultrafast (100Mbps+) and gigabit (the closest tier to 1Gbps) class packages for each ISP. A multi-gigabit category will be added in the future, once more ISPs are selling such a service. On top of that, we’ve just completed another update sweep of all the providers and packages in our database.
The ‘Standard Broadband’ (ADSL / sub-24Mbps services) category has also been moved into a retirement position for the future, but we’ll retain it for a few more years until FTTP networks have achieved significant UK coverage. Various other small changes have also been made, but there are too many to mention.
