Brand Refresh Time for London FTTP Network Community Fibre

London-focused network builder and UK broadband ISP CommunityFibre, which is rolling out a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the city, has today refreshed their brand to update their look and feel. The new logo is still based around an optical fibre cable, although they’ve gone with a lot more green.

According to the blurb, the new C symbol in their logo is said to be a “bold and confident design, inspired by the WiFi symbol,” but it made us think more of the C symbol for ‘Copyright’ than WiFi. Personally, we didn’t think there was anything wrong with the old logo, but a bit of brand simplification never did anybody any harm, except perhaps to the bean counters who have to find the money to update it everywhere.

NOTE: CommunityFibre’s network currently covers 1 million homes – plus 212,000 businesses on top (i.e. their network footprint expanded by 75% in the last 12 months).

The operator, which also owns ISP Box Broadband – a full fibre network that covers parts of Surrey and West Sussex in England (here), is currently aiming to reach 2.2 million UK premises by 2024 – more than half of all the homes in London (3.7 million). On top of that, Box Broadband also holds a “goal of delivering fibre to in excess of 250,000 homes by the end of 2024” (not included in CF’s 2.2m target).

In terms of funding, it’s tricky to keep track of CF’s announcements, but they were originally backed by £90m from private investors and Government schemes (e.g. Amber Infrastructure and RPMI Railpen), followed later by £400m via Warburg Pincus and DTCP, and £100m from a syndicate of existing and new banks. Back in October 2022 they also added a new finance facility of £985m – made up of £685m in committed facilities and a further £300m uncommitted accordion (here).

Residential customers typically pay from £20 per month on 24-month term (optional term of 12-months) for a symmetric speed of 150Mbps with an included router (£22 thereafter), which rises to £49 for their top 3Gbps tier (£51 thereafter). On top of that they also have a special tariff that gives you 20Mbps speeds for just £12.50 per month on a 12-month term, which is technically a social tariff, except anybody can take it.

Agree with Mark, quite bland, but not a big deal. Hope they can meet their targets. Been waiting 2 years for them to reach my street, they’ve installed Fibre in the community centre nearby, so fingers crossed they reach me soon

Im hoping Community Fibre and Virgin Media come soon Im with Hyperoptic only provider in my building that has built Fibre but its good to have many providers so you have choice when you see a promotional offer you can switch providers when your current contract nearly finishes.

I think Hyperoptic have alot of customers in my building as there where the first ones to build.

Its all about cost when building and other costs etc..

@Zakir I don’t disagree, having competition means the ISPs can’t take you for granted, as BT are doing with me, charging £30 for ADSL 🙁

Though it’s a luxury at the moment, I hope in the future once some of the altnets have scaled, that we all have multiple FTTP providers and can benefit from competition.

It reminds me of Cityfibre’s old logo.

Cityfibre spent a huge amount of money rebranding with their multi-coloured theme, then made hundreds redundant not long after.

      And that’s relevant because……

Inspired by the WiFi logo… Because nothing says multigigabit speeds like WiFi.

I know this is stupid but I was planning on getting Community Fibre in a couple of weeks, now I kind of wanna wait until I can get a junction box with the new logo LOL, I wonder how long it’ll take…

Also, their branding right now is all orange-coloured, this green won’t go with it, wonder if they’ll change more. Overall, they could have done a better job imo, the font ans colour is ok, but the logo is lame.

Not sure how I feel about this new branding, I preferred the old one.

No offense but this new logo is shit. A 5 year old could have done a better job

I’ve been doing Civils and cabe installing work on behalf of a contractor for C.Fibre for more than 4 years now , I must say I will miss the old logo as it kinda looked smart and very innovative, this one is a bit I must say. Definitely not a fan
