UPD4 Release of Apple iOS 7 Software Causes UK Internet Traffic to Surge

Broadband ISPs across the United Kingdom reported a surge in Internet traffic last night after yesterday’s 6pm release of the latest software update for Apple’s venerable iPhone and iPad began to stream its way into the wild. But the release wasn’t without a few hiccups.

BT Openreach Warns UK LLU ISPs to STOP Overloading their Electrics

BTOpenreach has warned communication providers, specifically unbundled (LLU) ISPs and Access Locate customers, to keep their electricity demands in check after finding that some were “overloading” their Points of Presence (PoPs) and thus putting other users “at risk of losing power to their equipment“.

Age UK Finds Elderly Internet Use is Generally Lower in Northern England

A new study by Age UK has reported that adults over the age of 65 are generally less likely to be using the Internet if they live in the north of England than if they reside in the south. Older people in Tyne and Wear were the least likely to be online (28% connected), while those in Surrey to the south showed the strongest uptake (65%).
