Politicians in rural Northumberland (England) have criticised a plan by Clarke Telecom, which represents Cornerstone (O2 and Vodafone), to deploy a new 25-metre-high mobile mast on land behind Addycombe Farm in Rothbury because it’s situated near to the Grade I listed Park and Gardens, and Cragside House.

Network builder Netomnia – supported by UK ISP YouFibre – has today announced that 20,000 premises in the North Ayrshire (Scotland) town of Irvine will be the next to benefit from their rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, which is expected to cost the operator £6m.

The UK communications and media regulator, Ofcom, has today set out their plans for putting the mess of complex and confusing legislation – that is the Online Safety Bill (OSB) – into practice, which aims to tackle “harmful” internet content through website bans by broadband ISPs, fines and other sanctions.

The state aid supported Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) project in England has today issued another update on the full fibre rollout progress of their £6m Fibre Extension Programme (FEP) contract with Openreach (BT), which was originally due to complete by the end of 2021 but is still ongoing.

Residents in the Camberley and Frimley areas of Surrey have complained of an “eyesore” and raised other concerns after UK ISP Toob began deploying new telegraph polesin the area, which are being used to serve local premises with their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband network.

Telecoms giant BT has posted a new update on their current network plans and performance, which among other things reveals that data and internet traffic over their fixed network (broadband and Ethernet) recently hit a new peak of 28Tbps (Terabits per second) during their busiest hour (up from 25Tbps at the end of 2021).

Broadband – has today secured a significant £25m funding package from Santander, which will enable them to expand the rollout of their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) infrastructure across the South of England.

A new study of job listings on employment hunting site Indeed claims to have identified the top 25 UK industries most in need of workers, which among other things reveals that the telecommunications (broadband, Ethernet and mobile etc.) sector ranks 13th overall with 3,352 job listings. But Healthcare dominates.

Aviva-backed ISP County Broadband, which aims to cover 500,000 premises in the rural East of England with their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network by the end of 2027, has today revealed that their company will become home to 270 employees by the end of this year (up from 170 today).

The Scottish Government’s £28.75m 4G Infill Programme (S4GI), which is supported by WHP Telecoms and aims to improve rural mobile voice and data (broadband) coverage by building new masts (mostly in the Highlands and Islands), has officially reached the halfway point with 28 masts activated and 27 to go by 2023.

Derby-based communications provider E-volve Solutions has today revealed that it’s looking to expand their existing full fibre and fixed wireless access (FWA) broadband networks, which are currently focused on smaller firms in Derbyshire, to serve UK homes and other businesses in “rural areas” with “speeds up to 10Gbps“.

Some 150 businesses based on the Sci-Tech Daresbury site have become the first to benefit from a new 212km full fibre broadband and Ethernet network called LCR Connect, which is being built as part of a £30m project backed by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, ITS Technology and NGE.
