The on-going roll-out of an ultrafast Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband ISP network on Jersey (Channel Islands) by JT Global (Jersey Telecom) will have many benefits but it also means lots of changes, such as the eventual removal of “all copper services”, and some aspects of this transition have now triggered a competition row.

A recent update from JT Global (Jersey Telecom) has revealed that 7,600 customers have now subscribed to the operators 1000Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband ISP network on Jersey (Channel Islands), which is being rolled out to around 42,000 premises by the end of 2016 (plus 5,000 on Guernsey).

The Channel Islands Competition Regulatory Authority (CICRA) confirms that JT Global has agreed to open up access for rival ISPs wishing to deliver services over their new Gigabit Jersey network, which is currently rolling out a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband platform across the Channel Island of Jersey.

JT Global (Jersey Telecom) has confirmed that it’s “well on track” to complete the roll-out of their new 1000Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband ISP network by the end of 2016 on Jersey (Channel Islands), which has already connected more than 5,000 premises.

The Treasury Minister for Jersey (Channel Islands), Senator Philip Ozouf, has criticised local telecoms operator JT Global (Jersey Telecom) for allowing an issue with one of its subcontractors to allegedly slow the progress of their new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband ISP network.
