Reports are coming in that the English Channel Island of Jersey has suffered major telecoms and broadband disruption after a ship, which was dragging its anchor along the seabed, broken through three of the islands main undersea fibre optic cables.

Two press adverts and a poster for JT‘s 4G based Mobile network on the Channel Island of Guernsey have been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority after they “misleadingly” claimed that the provider offered the “fastest network“. Rival operators Airtel (Vodafone) and Sure disagreed.

The roll-out of a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband ISP network on the English Channel Island of Jersey, which is being conducted by the state-owned JT Global (Jersey Telecom), looks to be under threat after the local government (States of Jersey) requested a £6m dividend from the Telco to help it plug a £31m budget deficit for 2014 (rising to £39m in 2015).

The Jersey (Channel Islands) based telecoms operator JT has managed to get a website and press advert for rival Sure Ltd. banned after the provider misleadingly promoted their pay monthly mobile tariffs as offering both “UNLIMITED” data and txt messages, which was despite the operator applying restrictions in its Fair Usage Policy (FUP).

JT Global (Jersey Telecom) reports that some 10,000 customers have now subscribed to their 1000Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband ISP network on Jersey (Channel Islands), which is up from 8,479 in June and 7,600 in March 2014.
