The B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North) project, which is deploying a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across rural premises in several English counties, has revealed that they’ve now covered around 17,000 premises (8,600 connected customers) and are trialling a new £5 Connect Plus tariff.

UK ISP VISPA (Vispa Internet) appears to have officially started the rollout of their own gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the town of Marple, which is in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport (Greater Manchester) and home to a population of 24,000.

UK ISP Zzoomm has today revealed that their new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network will shortly be expanding into Staffordshire (England), specifically thousands of homes and businesses within the town of Cannock, which is home to a local population of c.30,000.

Alternative UK ISP Zzoomm has announced that their new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network will next be expanded into Cheshire (England), specifically tens of thousands of homes and businesses within the large railway town and civil parish of Crewe.

Alternative network ISP Freedom Fibre, which suddenly emerged earlier this year after we spotted TalkTalk harnessing their 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network (here), appears to have set itself the aim of reaching 100,000 subscribers in the North West (e.g. Cheshire, Manchester).

Some 2,500 additional homes in the Cheshire town of Alsager have today become the latest to benefit from ISP Virgin Media’s ongoing UK expansion of their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, which can deliver average top download speeds of around 630Mbps (reaching 1Gbps+ in the near future).

CityFibre UK has today announced that construction has started on their new £23 million project to deploy a gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the Cathedral City of Chester in Cheshire (England), which is home to around 80,000 people.

In a surprise development we’ve spotted that UK ISP TalkTalk has partnered up with a new network operator called Freedom Fibre, which seems set to deploy a 500Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband network across the large village of Culcheth in Warrington (Cheshire, England).

The Cheshire East Council in England has awarded a new publicly funded contract, worth about £4.5 million, to UK ISP Airband in order to help extend gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband to a further 4,100+ homes and businesses in some of the hardest to reach (e.g. rural) areas.

Manchester-based UK ISP VISPA has revealed that they’re preparing to rollout their own gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, which would also be supplemented by the expansion of their existing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network to serve locations where it is not possible to use a full fibre service.

The founder and CEO of UK rural “full fibre” broadband ISP B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North), Barry Forde MBE, has this morning announced that he intends to retire by the end of this year. The provider’s Board is currently overseeing the ongoing process of appointing a successor.

A new Fife-based “full fibre” broadband ISP called Gigaloch (Optilec) has recently surfaced, which appears to have plans to deploy their own gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across rural parts of the United Kingdom, albeit seemingly focused more on England and Scotland.

The CEO of rural UK full fibre ISP B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North), Barry Forde, has become the first person to sign-up to the provider’s new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) plan. The first live speed test of this produced a download speed of 8341Mbps and uploads of 6644Mbps, with latency of just 1ms.
