Network operator CityFibre, which has already deployed their 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across around 4.5 million UK premises, recently indicated to Mobile Europe’s Digital Telco event that they would be looking to upgrade to 50G-PON or 100G-PON during the early to mid 2030s.

Hull-based network operator KCOM, which has already deployed their own full fibre (FTTP) broadband network across a big chunk of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, has today confirmed that their new infrastructure sharing solution (i.e. giving rivals access to their cable ducts and poles) will officially go live on 1st August 2025. But is it too little, too late.

But some rival providers have privately begun to note that customers who sign-up to Sky’s service seem to be getting earlier installation dates than they can. We take a closer look.

Broadband and mobile operator Vodafone has published their first combined Q1 FY26 financial results with Three UK. The figures show that the merged entity has 1.654 million fixed broadband customers (up by 44k in Q1 vs 61k in the previous quarter) and a huge combined mobile base of 28.765m – making them the “biggest mobile network operator in the UK“.

Broadband ISP and network builder Exascale, which has also deployed their own gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to a few thousands premises in part of Telford and Wrekin, has today signed a partnership to harness CityFibre’s network and thus deliver FTTP and Ethernet services to more UK homes and businesses.

Internet provider Sky Broadband has today gone fully live via CityFibre’s growing Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based home broadband network. The change is being launched alongside a new Wi-Fi 7 router – “Gigafast+ Hub” (SCER11BELUKS) – and two new packages – Full Fibre 2.5 Gigafast+ (2.5Gbps) and Full Fibre 5 Gigafast+ (5Gbps).

The current owners of internet provider Yayzi Broadband appear to be in the process of establishing a new provider called nufibre, which is due to launch in about a month and will be offering FTTP broadband packages via a selection of network operators (the website shows logos for Openreach, Trooli, Freedom Fibre, MS3, CityFibre and others).
