Broadband ISP Wildanet has announced the official start of their £50m programme to deploy a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across Cornwall in England, which will start with the provider’s home town of Liskeard before moving into the surrounding rural areas within the PL14 postcode.

Broadband ISP Wildanet, which until recently had focused on deploying a wireless network across rural parts of Cornwall in South West England, has secured a major investment of £50m from the Gresham House British Strategic Investment Infrastructure Fund (BSIF) to help it deploy gigabit-capable full fibre.

Fixed wireless UK broadband ISP Wildanet, which covers some rural parts of Cornwall in England, has today revealed that they’re looking to branch out into building a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network that would cater for “homes and commercial premises in urban and rural areas” within the county.

Fixed wireless broadband ISP Wildanet has extended their network to the market town of Liskeard and claimed that it is now Cornwall’s (England) first location to benefit from the “fastest level of broadband speeds available” at 1Gbps, except its not and the fastest consumer package on their site is only 50Mbps.

Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) UK ISP Wildanet, which is currently building a new broadband network in rural parts of South West England, has begun offering businesses in Cornwall “guaranteed superfast broadband, with no payments in the first three months and a free standard installation” to help with the impact from COVID-19.

The Cornwall County Council in South West England has agreed to create the “Superfast 3 – Inclusive Growth” broadband project at a total cost of £5.835m, which could extend the reach of “superfast broadband” (30Mbps+) to “at least” 2,700 additional premises (mostly homes and 546 businesses).
