Rural broadband ISP Wildanet, which a year ago began the £50m rollout of a new gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) and fixed wireless (FWA) network across parts of Cornwall (here), has now begun to rollout their network to local homes and businesses in the village of Pensilva, which sits in the civil parish of St Ive.
At present the provider is known to be building to around 6,000 premises in the Liskeard area (this was due to completed during “early Autumn” 2021 but is still ongoing), as well as 1,400 addresses in nearby Callington (due to complete by the Spring of 2022) and an unknown number of premises in the town of Torpoint on the south coast. Openreach are also extending their existing FTTP into some of the same areas.
The latest village to benefit from this rollout is Pensilva, which sits roughly between Liskeard and Callington. Wildanet hasn’t said how many premises will benefit from this build, although the village is fairly small and the operator expects “the new service to be available from Spring 2022” (we suspect they mean by the end of Spring).
Customers of the new service can expect to pay from £39.95 per month (discounted to £25) to receive a 200Mbps (100Mbps upload) package with free installation on a 24-month term, which rises to £59.99 if you want their top 900Mbps (400Mbps upload) package. The free connection offer is due to end this month.
