Broadband ISP and TV provider Virgin Media UK (Liberty Global) have today confirmed that they’ve just completed another network extension, which has seen 3,300 premises in the Derbyshire town of Shirebrook gain access to their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network.

Cityfibre has confirmed that they’ve begun construction of their new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) based broadband ISP network in the city of Derby (Derbyshire, England), which is being conducted alongside civil engineering firm J. McCann & Co Ltd and is expected to cost £45m.

Some 13,000 council house tenants in the UK city of Derby (Derbyshire) will soon be able to access Cityfibre’s new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband ISP network, which is thanks to a new partnership with Derby City Council and Derby Homes.

After a long wait Cityfibre has finally confirmed that they will begin the £45m build of a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband ISP network in the Derbyshire (England) city of Derby during “late spring” 2020, which will aim to cover “nearly every home and business” (usually reaching 85%+ of local premises).

Alternative network UK ISP Pine Media have confirmed that their new 1000Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network has now covered a total of 11,000 premises in Sheffield and they have big rollout plans for the future, including in rural parts of South Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

Cable operator Virgin Media UK has confirmed to ISPreview.co.uk that they’ve wisely “taken over” rival ISP Sky Broadband’s 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network in Swandicote (Derbyshire), which was originally built as part of a trial and is believed to have covered up to 5,000 local homes.

Customers of Sky Broadband’s early 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployment in Swandicote (Derbyshire) have this month been informed that the trial is due to end on 1st November 2018. Sadly the ISP said that they have “no plans to offer this service on a long-term basis.”
