Full Fibre Limited, which aims to deploy a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to cover “at least” 500,000 UK premises by 2025, has today named the next batch of 13 rural and semi-urban “forgotten towns” across Derbyshire, Staffordshire, West Yorkshire, and Nottinghamshire to benefit from their rollout.

CityFibre’s UK rollout of a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the city of Derby (Derbyshire) and the coastal East Sussex town of Eastbourne appear to both be suffering from a few separate problems with contractors, with some sub-contractors allegedly threatening to “rip-up tarmac” that has been laid.

More than a year has passed since CityFibre, supported by civil engineering firm J. McCann & Co Ltd, began the £45m rollout (here) of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network in the city of Derby (Derbyshire, England). The unusually named UK ISP I Need Broadband (INB) has just become the latest provider to start building their own gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, with their first projects reaching hundreds of homes and businesses across parts of North Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire (England).

Some 6,900 homes in the North East Derbyshire town of Dronfield have just become the latest to benefit from the expansion of Virgin Media’s new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, although initially locals will only be able to access a top speed of 516Mbps (average) until the future DOCSIS 3.1 upgrade completes.

Cable operator Virgin Media UK has confirmed to ISPreview.co.uk that they’ve wisely “taken over” rival ISP Sky Broadband’s 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network in Swandicote (Derbyshire), which was originally built as part of a trial and is believed to have covered up to 5,000 local homes.
