Once again we start the day with an announcement about yet another new entrant into the growing market of alternative UK networks, Simply Fibre, which appears to have been partially set up by a familiar name. The operator plans to deploy its own Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) service to homes and businesses.
The Derby-based operator revealed their intention as part of a new application for Code Powers from Ofcom, which can help to speed-up the deployment of new fibre optic networks and cut costs by reducing the number of licenses needed for street works to take place.
The application itself doesn’t tell us much, only that Simply Fibre intends to serve “homes and businesses in urban and rural areas in selected locations across the UK … [such as those] that are not currently served by such networks.” The company itself was incorporated on 21st May 2018 and, until recently, it had remained fairly dormant.
Sadly, Simply Fibre doesn’t yet appear to have its own website, although we do recognise its Managing Director, Andrew Mills, as being the same Founder and MD of the rural Buckinghamshire focused Aylesbury Vale Broadband (AVB) project from a couple of years ago. The AVB project had a bit of a rocky time and eventually its network assets ended up being acquired by rival fibre ISP Gigaclear.
We look forward to learning more about what Simply Fibre plans to do in the near future.
Setup in 2018, has been a dormant company since, share capital = £1.
