The Superfast Essex project in England, which a few months ago announced that its contract with BT would be extended to push “superfast fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) services out to 95% of the region (55,000 extra premises), has today unveiled the first areas to benefit. The deployment date has also been brought forward by a year.

It’s not uncommon to read about how business parks are sometimes overlooked by the state aid supported roll-out of superfast broadband services, although it now appears as if seven such parks in Colchester (Essex, England) will at least benefit from a new investment of £200,000.

The state aid fuelled Superfast Essex project in England has become to latest to break with the tradition of BT contracts by agreeing to a new £7.5m deal with Gigaclear, which will see 4,500 premises in the Epping Forest area benefit from their “ultrafast” 1000Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network.

The £24.62m Superfast Essex project in England, which aims to make BT’s “fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) network available to 87% of local homes and businesses by the end of summer 2016, has agreed to continue their partnership with BT and extend the coverage to a further 51,000 premises.

The Diocese of Chelmsford has selected local wireless ISP County Broadband to help fill in some of the Internet slowspots and notspots around Essex (England) by allowing them to build a new 32Mbps (Megabits per second) capable network via local churches.
