The ITS Technology Group (its.) and UK ISP Zen Systems have created a new partnership in order to launch a “gigabit-capable” fibre optic network across a large business park in Nottingham, which is reusing some existing infrastructure in order to cover over 110 local businesses.

The Group CEO of Sky (Sky Broadband), Jeremy Darroch, has quietly revealed to Comcast’s investors that their ISP division will debut “our broadband product to businesses” in the United Kingdom “later this year“, which will be followed by a full launch in 2021.

UK ISP BT Business has today extended the availability of their converged HALO packages to include small business customers, which combines their “fibre broadband“, 4G unlimited mobile and digital phone line (app based) service into a single bundle from £42.95 +vat per month. Taiwan-based network manufacturer DrayTek is a familiar name in the UK broadband ISP world. Since 1997 they’ve been busy building various routers, switches, access points and modems. Cityfibre has today announced a major recruitment and training drive, which over the next 3 years will see them create 10,000 jobs (engineers etc.). The move supports their £4bn investment (here) to roll-out a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across 8 million UK premises by around 2025.

Full fibre operator Cityfibre has today announced that they’ve started work on their latest £32m project to deploy a new “gigabit-capable” Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband network across the south coast city of Portsmouth (Hampshire, UK), which is being supported by UK ISP partner Vodafone (with TalkTalk to follow).

The Dumfries and Galloway Council (DGC) in Scotland has secured a public investment of £1.36M under the UK Government’s £200m Rural Gigabit Connectivity (RGC) programme, which will be used to help 35 rural primary schools in the region to access a new “gigabit-capable” broadband or Ethernet connection.

The Aberdeenshire Council in Scotland has awarded a £10.5 million UK Local Full Fibre Networks (LFFN) contract to the Enterprise Telecoms division of SSE (SSEET), which will be tasked with building a new “gigabit-capable” Dark Fibre network to connect 189 local public sector sites (hospitals, council buildings, schools etc.).
