Belfast-based ISP Fibrus, which has spent the past couple of years deploying a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across Northern Ireland, has today announced that their build is being extended to include 300,000 premises in the North of England (i.e. Cumbria, Northumberland and North Yorkshire).

The Building Digital UK programme is reportedly preparing to approve a small funding boost for the Project Stratum deployment in Northern Ireland, which will see the chosen supplier (Fibrus) build their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to a couple of thousand extra premises.

Multiple credible sources have informed ISPreview.co.uk that the Northern Ireland Executive are set to announced that alternative network ISP Fibrus has beaten BT (Openreach) to be chosen as the main supplier for their £165m Project Stratum programme, which will extend “superfast broadband” (30Mbps+) coverage.

Belfast-based UK ISP Fibrus, which is currently deploying a new “gigabit-capable” Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband network in Northern Ireland and was recently gobbled up by Infracapital, has announced that they’ve committed £21m to extend their network into parts of Mid Ulster.
