Gigabit broadband ISP BeFibre has issued a progress update on their work to support the rollout of a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, which is being built across towns in several counties (e.g. Essex, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Gloucestershire, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire etc.) by network access partner Digital Infrastructure.

The Building Digital UK team has today published another round of Public Reviews (PR) for the Government’s £5bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout – this time covering West Yorkshire and Parts of North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and West of Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Warwickshire in England.

Hull-based ISP KCOM, which is busy rolling out a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire (England), has reported that their service now reaches over 300,000 premises across the region (up from the c.250,000 at the end of last year) and they’ve also got 150 wholesale partners.

Network operator Upp has signed a new partnership with Comsof Fibre and GE Digital that aims to improve how quickly they can design their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network for the East of England, which they claim could “speed up the rollout process by 80% and dramatically lower build costs“.

UK ISP Quickline, which operates a mix of full fibre (FTTP) and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) broadband networks across parts of Lincolnshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire, has revealed that they plan to upgrade their existing Microwave capacity links to support data speeds of 10Gbps (Gigabits per second) over distances of 10-12km.

Broadband ISP Quickline has today claimed to be the “first” company in the UK to offer Standalone 5G (SA) technology, which will be used to bring superfast and ultrafast broadband speeds to rural areas. The first services will offer speeds of up to 450Mbps, but there are “plans” to hit “gigabit capability” by summer 2022.

East Yorkshire-based UK ISP Quickline has just connected homes and businesses in the Lincolnshire village of Lissington to their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, which forms part of their £6.1m state aid supported Building Digital UK (BDUK) contract with the Lincolnshire County Council (LCC).
