Australian investment group Macquarie has reportedly placed broadband ISP and full fibre network operator KCOM, which is the dominant operator in Hull and is also expanding further out into East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in England, under strategic review. The move could potentially result in a sale or merger of the business.

Hull-based broadband ISP KCOM, which is building a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in England, has named the first three winners of their Digital Inclusion Grants. The provider offers up to £25k to projects and organisations that are aimed at improving lives in communities across the region.

CityFibre has today provided a progress update on their £21m project to roll-out a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the Lincolnshire (England) city of Lincoln, which began in March 2022 (here) and has now largely completed its build across the wards of Abbey, Glebe, Minster, Castle, Carholme and Birchwood.

UK ISP Quickline, which is rolling out a gigabit-capable full fibre (FTTP) broadband network across parts of England, has today announced that they’ve just gone live across three more villages in Rural Lincolnshire – North Somercotes near Louth, Donnington near Spalding and Alford (total of almost 4,000 premises).

A new BBC News report states that BT UK quoted one homeowner in the tiny Lincolnshire community of Wingland a hefty £101,874.60 to run a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to his property, which formed part of an offer under the 10Mbps Universal Service Obligation (USO). But this shouldn’t come as a surprise.
