The Broadband Delivery UK team have just published a new batch of Public Reviews (PR) and Open Market Reviews (OMR) for additional parts of England – mostly covered by Phase 2 of the Government’s £5bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout. Both aim to identify which areas need state aid support for future builds.

The Lincolnshire Police are appealing for witnesses after criminals ripped up 1,000 metres worth of Openreach’s (BT) copper broadband and phone cable from Mareham Lane in Scredington, south of Sleaford. As a result, local homes and businesses in the village are said to have been left cut-off for days.

UK ISP KCOM, which has so far built a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover 250,000 premises across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire in England (here), has made the hugely positive decision to scrap their contractual CPI + 3.9% price rise for this year to help customers facing the cost of living crisis.

KCOM, which recently extended their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to cover 250,000 premises across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire in England (here), have published their annual accounts and revealed that their total broadband customer base has grown to 139,700 (most are now on fibre, having migrated from copper).

Network operator Digital Infrastructure (DI), which a few months ago revealed their aim to deploy a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to 1 million UK premises in 84 cities (here), has today confirmed that they’ve been able to secure £100m of funding from Basalt Infrastructure Partners.

UK ISP Quickline, which aims to invest £500m on a major rollout of “ultrafast and gigabit-capable broadband” across rural parts of North England and beyond, has today announced that two industry veterans – Lee Allison and Ian Smith – will be appointed as their new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

CityFibre has today announced that they’ve committed £21 million to deploy a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to homes and businesses in the Lincolnshire (England) city of Lincoln, which is home to a total population of around 95,000 (including the borough area).

Cloud gaming ISP ZYBRE, which back in July 2021 became available to homes covered by KCOM’s gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, has now been extended across the rest of the UK by offering both SOGEA (standalone FTTC) and full fibre via Openreach’s network too.

Full fibre UK ISP Grain Connect, which was initially supported by £10m from Albion Capital, has today confirmed that they’ve scored a £75 million equity investment from Equitix, one of Europe’s top infrastructure investors, to help extend their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to 300,000 premises.
