Network operator Elevate (formerly Telcom and Luminet) has today announced that they’ve secured a new contract to build a “hyperfast” full fibre internet network in the large Merseyside (england) town of St Helens, which is home to a population of around 120,000.

Mobile network operator O2 (Virgin Media) has today announced that they’ve completed a project to upgrade the capacity of their 4G and 5G mobile services across “over” 3,500 postcodes in the Merseyside city of Liverpool (England), which should mean “faster” mobile broadband speeds and greater reliability.

As hinted last week (here), network analyst firm Streetwave has confirmed that they’ve won yet another contract to map 4G and 5G based mobile broadband coverage using bin lorries, which will this time focus on the Liverpool City Region in Merseyside (England) and some 7,000km of the UK’s road network.

Network operator Netomnia (inc. Brsk and ISP YouFibre) has today announced that their £39m investment to deploy a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the city of Liverpool (Merseyside) has covered 110,000 premises (homes and businesses). But they’re now planning to add another 80,000 premises.

Alternative network operators MS3 and Brsk are separately facing more public protests against their use of wood poles for the deployment of new gigabit-speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP networks, this time in Hull (East Yorkshire) and St Helens (Merseyside), respectively.

Alternative network operator and UK ISP Brsk has today announced that their roll-out of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network is being extended to include 60,000 premises across St Helens in Merseyside, and neighbouring Ashton-in-Makerfield in Wigan, Greater Manchester.

The local authority for the Merseyside (England) town of St Helens, which is home to a population of around 103,000, has notified ISPreview of a new digital infrastructure project that aims to invest £2.5m to deploy a fibre optic network to support businesses across the town centre with gigabit-capable broadband.

The recent dispute between residents in the seaside town of Southport (Merseyside) and Openreach reached UK parliament yesterday, with the local Conservative MP, Damien Moore, claiming that an alleged “whistleblower” had revealed that the broadband builder was sidestepping its own rules on pole deployments.

Angry residents living on Griffiths Drive in Southport (England) have used their cars to block access to the street in an effort to prevent Openreach from deploying poles. Police have been called in after vandals caused “extensive” damage to part of Netomnia’s (supported by UK ISP YouFibre) new full fibre broadband network in Liverpool, where the operator is currently investing £39 million on a large deployment project. Some 150 businesses based on the Sci-Tech Daresbury site have become the first to benefit from a new 212km full fibre broadband and Ethernet network called LCR Connect, which is being built as part of a £30m project backed by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, ITS Technology and NGE.
