Broadband ISP Plusnet refreshes UK brand and introduces new mascot

Internet service provider Plusnet, which is often viewed as being the low-cost and no-frills broadband brand within the wider BT Group, has today refreshed their brand with a new website, logo and a mascot called Plusso. By the looks of things they’re still rolling this out as some of their old logo and pages are still active.

Ofcom has released their latest Q2 2026 study of quarterly UK consumer telecoms and TV complaints, which reveals that TalkTalk, Vodafone, EE and BT all tied by attracting the most complaints from customers about fixed broadband services, while Sky Mobile came top of the naughty table for Pay Monthly Mobile services and EE did the same for Pay TV.

A new study that collected data from Ookla’s popular Speedtest.net service for benchmarking internet connections has named BT as the fastest of the major UK broadband ISPs, beating out competition from Virgin Media, Vodafone, Sky Broadband, Plusnet (part of the BT Group) and last place sitter TalkTalk.

New customers looking to take a home broadband package from one of BT Group’s retail ISPs, including EE and Plusnet, will from today find that they’ll also need to start paying for a one-off broadband activation fee again. The providers haven’t charged an activation fee for the past few years, partly to help boost take-up (a common practice).

Ofcom has this morning published their latest Q1 2026 study of quarterly UK consumer telecoms and TV complaints, which reports that TalkTalk attracted the most complaints from customers for fixed broadband services, while Sky Mobile came top of the naughty table for Mobile services and EE did the same for Pay TV. But complaint volumes have fallen to their lowest ever level.

BT Update – Openreach Lose 192K UK Broadband Lines as FTTP Covers 23.4M

Telecoms giant BT Group just published a short trading update to the end June 2026, which reveals that Openreach lost a total of 192,000 broadband lines to rivals over the past quarter (improved from -203k last quarter). But their “full fibre” (FTTP) coverage grew to 23.4 million premises (up from 22.92m) and EE’s 5G+ mobile coverage reached 77% of the UK population.

UK ISP Plusnet has updated the discounts on their home broadband plans for new customers, which for example has slashed the monthly price of their top 900Mbps (gigabit) Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) package to just £28.99 per month on a 24-month term. Some packages also now include reward cards (pre-paid Mastercards) worth up to £150.

BT Group Loses 203K UK Broadband Lines and Grows FTTP to 23 Million Premises

The BT Group has published their H2 FY26 biannual results, which saw total half year revenues of £9,840m (up from £9,806m in H1) and another quarterly UK decline in Openreach’s broadband lines of -203k (down from -210k in Q3 FY26) – full year losses totalled 825k. But the network operator still grew their full fibre (FTTP) coverage by 2.608 million premises in H2 (vs 2.23m in H1) to total 23m.

BT Refreshes UK Consumer Brands and Relaunches BT Mobile Service

Broadband and telecoms giant BT Group has this afternoon confirmed last week’s leak (here) by announcing somewhat of a UK consumer brand resuscitation for BT and a refresh for their other consumer divisions (EE and Plusnet). The move will, among other things, revive their BT Mobile brand for basic 30 day rolling SIM Only contracts and introduces free security upgrades for home users.

New Which Survey Awards Best and Worst UK Broadband ISPs for 2026

Consumer magazine Which? has published the results from their latest broadband ISP satisfaction survey, which questioned 5,235 UK members of the public (Dec 2025 to Jan 2026) about their internet providers. Once again Zen Internet came top of the pack with a customer score of 84%, while NOW TV (NOW Broadband) hit rock bottom on 54%.
