Consumer magazine Which? has surveyed 3,000 of its UK members and concluded that broadband ISP customers who remain with their provider, and don’t haggle for a better price (i.e. after their minimum contract term has ended), are being hit with so-called “loyalty penalties” of up to £220 a year on average.

Internet speed analyst firm SamKnows has this week posted the results from a limited run of their new “sensationally accurate” broadband ISP speedtest tool, which was tested last month as part of support for some research that the BBC’s Watchdog TV show was doing. Unsurprisingly Virgin Media came top, with TalkTalk bottom.

A new survey by consumer magazine Which? has named the best and worst rated 12 home broadband ISPs for customer satisfaction, which saw Zen Internet (86%) come top and Sky Broadband (47%) fall to the bottom. But the survey also warned that many people are paying over the odds by choosing to remain loyal.

Ofcom’s latest Q2 2018 UK complaints report finds that consumer moans are falling, while Sky Broadband attracted the least gripes for fixed line broadband (TalkTalk attracted the most) and it was the same story for landline phone services. Pay TV and Mobile providers are also included.

Low cost UK ISP Plusnet appears to have extended their £50 cashback cheques to both of their FTTC based unlimited superfast broadband and phone line rental packages, which currently start at £23.99 per month for an average speed of 36Mbps and £28.99 for an average of 66Mbps.

A new survey of 7,026 broadband customers, which was conducted by consumer magazine Which? in July 2018, has examined 12 of the biggest UK home broadband ISPs and found that customers of Virgin Media were the most likely to experience problems with their service. Meanwhile subscribers to Zen Internet had the least moans.

Internet and phone providers Zen Internet and Plusnet have come top in a new biannual UK MSE survey of ISP customer service quality. Sadly the news isn’t so good for those at the opposite (bottom) end of the table, where TalkTalk and the Post Office could both be found.

Living with a hearing problem is no fun and there can be different forms of such disabilities, which means a solution that works for one group may be unusable for others. Suffice to say that we expect the largest broadband ISPs to cater for such scenarios but a new investigation by Cable.co.uk suggests some are falling short.

Low cost ISP Plusnet will today follow TalkTalk’s lead by launching their own range of fixed price broadband and line rental (phone) contracts for residential and small business customers, which means that the price you pay will stay the same for the duration of your minimum contract term.

Internet provider Plusnet Business has today slashed the prices of their top two (up to 18Mbps ADSL2+ and 76Mbps FTTC) domestic grade unlimited broadband and phone line rental bundles for new UK small business customers.

The first six months of 2018 recorded another rise in average fixed home broadband download speeds to 33.29Mbps (7.82Mbps upload) among the top 10 ISPs, which continues to be fuelled by the rising adoption of faster FTTC, FTTP and Cable lines. Average mobile data speeds also hit 18.87Mbps (5.02Mbps upload).

Low cost UK ISP Plusnet has gone against the industry trend by testing a new range of broadband and phone bundles for one week, which are not only cheaper than usual but also come with free evening, weekend and mobile calls as standard. Previously providers have preferred to scrap their calling plans to focus on broadband.

A flash sale has cropped up on Plusnet’s UK website that reduces their range of unlimited home broadband and phone bundle prices to their lowest level in a long time, although these will only be available to order by new customers until Monday 4th June 2018 next week.

Low cost UK ISP Plusnet and partner John Lewis have joined several other providers by revealing what their average advertised broadband download speeds will become when the new guidelines are adopted next Wednesday. They’ll also be the first to include an average for upload speed (well done).
