Ofcom has today published their latest Q3 2019 consumer complaints report, which reveals that UK ISP Vodafone attracted the most gripes for fixed line broadband, home phone and mobile (Pay Monthly) service. Meanwhile Virgin Media took the most flak their Pay TV service.

Strictly speaking UK ISP Plusnet already started their Black Friday discounts last week (here), although they perhaps saw what some of their rivals were doing and have now introduced further reductions on their two FTTC “fibre broadband” and phone plans. The latest Q2 2019 consumer complaints report from Ofcom has confirmed that UK ISP Vodafone attracted the most moans for fixed line broadband, while Plusnet were the worst for landline phone and Virgin Media did the same for both Mobile and Pay TV. On the flip side Sky Broadband generated the fewest gripes.

Some customers of Plusnet’s broadband service, specifically those using their Hub One router (re-branded BT HomeHub 5A), are suffering from unstable internet connectivity when connecting to devices via the 5GHz WiFi band. The issue began earlier this year.

The long standing CEO of low cost broadband ISP Plusnet, Andy Baker, has announced that he will step down as the provider completes its integration into BT’s Consumer division. Despite this the business will retain some independence (i.e. helping to differentiate their packages) and will continue to be based out of Sheffield and Leeds.

Budget UK ISP Plusnet has recently announced another round of annual price rises on their broadband and phone services, which are set to be introduced just before Christmas on 3rd December 2019. On that same day the provider will also withdraw their old “broadband without line rental” packages from sale for new customers.

The UK telecoms regulator, Ofcom, has concluded their review of broadband ISP pricing and agreed industry changes that are designed to protect “vulnerable” consumers (e.g. pensioners) from “loyalty penalties,” which references how loyal customers (those who don’t switch or renegotiate) often end up paying more.

The fallout from last year’s troubled migration to a new billing platform has continued after broadband ISP Plusnet confirmed that, in yet another blunder, their system failed to take payments from hundreds of customers for a period of several months. As a result some subscribers are about to be hit with a large backdated bill.

Customers of UK ISP Plusnet, which is a BT sibling company, who take the £5 per month BTSport TV App add-on on a 30 day contract have been left in shock after the provider suddenly began informing them that the price they currently pay would be hiked by 100% from 17th September 2019.

A new report from Ofcom has revealed that Plusnet attracted the most UK consumer complaints for fixed line broadband and phone in Q1 2019, while Vodafone attracted the most gripes for Mobile and TalkTalk for Pay TV services. On the flip side Sky Broadband (Sky TV) and EE generated the fewest fixed line moans.

A new survey of 3,807 consumers by Which? has revealed the top consumer complaints for each of the UK markets largest TV and broadband ISPs. Overall the study found that 70% had experienced an “issue” with their provider and customers of cable operator Virgin Media were the most likely to have had problems.
