CityFibre Enginers Over Trench

CityFibre’s ongoing £195m investment in the rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across East and West Sussex (England) has just added the seaside town of Bognor Regis to their active build phase, which will also include all the villages between Pagham and Elmer.

The Building Digital UK team has today published another batch of Public Reviews (PR) for Surrey, Lancashire, Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire (inc. Swindon), Derbyshire, East Sussex and Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes under the Government’s £5bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout.

UK ISP Swish Fibre, which is deploying a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover 250,000 premises across the Home Counties of England, has today given a brief progress update on their build and appointed Nigel Sudell to their Senior Leadership Team, as Chief Integration Officer (CIO).

The Broadband Delivery UK team have just published a new batch of Public Reviews (PR) and Open Market Reviews (OMR) for additional parts of England – mostly covered by Phase 2 of the Government’s £5bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout. Both aim to identify which areas need state aid support for future builds.

Broadband ISP Trooli, which aims to reach 1 million premises with their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network by the end of 2024 (mostly across Kent, East Sussex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Suffolk), appears to have recently added a number of new locations to the “coming soon” section of their rollout plan.

UK ISP Box Broadband, which is now part of CommunityFibre (here) and has already extended their own Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover 7,000 homes across parts of Surrey and West Sussex (England), has today become the latest provider to bundle in Netgem’s pay TV box and service.

CityFibre has today announced that they’ve begun to rollout their 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network for local homes in the West Sussex market town of Horsham, which is home to a population of around 51,000 and is expected to cost the operator £12 million to complete.

Business UK ISP MLL Telecom has won a 10-year managed network services contract with East Sussex County Council (ESCC), which is valued at over £20m and will see them replace the existing Link Consortium this year and streamline the procurement of a wide range of Full Fibre managed network services.

The West Sussex County Council (WSCC) has, having decided not to wait any longer for the UK Government to solve the problem, moved to “ensure that all newly-built homes” have essential “full fibre” broadband services “ready for homeowners when they move in,” which it will do by developing new planning “guidance“.

CityFibre UK has today started the rollout of their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network in the South East England based cathedral city of Chichester. At the same time, Kent-based ISP Vfast (Orbital Net) has announced that they will also be providing services via CF’s network in Medway.

Broadband ISP Trooli, which is building a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across parts of South and South East England, has signed one of the first long-term Joint User Pole (JUP) agreements with UK Power Networks. The move will enable them to run their fibre optic cables across certain low voltage electricity poles.

Broadband ISP Trooli, which is currently deploying a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across parts of Kent, Hampshire, Suffolk, Surrey, Berkshire, Wiltshire and Sussex, has secured a £67.5m senior debt facility via a consortium of commercial lenders to help them reach 1 million UK premises by 2024.

London-focused broadband ISP CommunityFibre, which has so far covered 300,000 homes (plus 12,000 businesses) with their 3Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, look set to expand outside the UK’s capital city and into parts of Surrey and West Sussex in England with today’s acquisition of Box Broadband.

CityFibre’s UK rollout of a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the city of Derby (Derbyshire) and the coastal East Sussex town of Eastbourne appear to both be suffering from a few separate problems with contractors, with some sub-contractors allegedly threatening to “rip-up tarmac” that has been laid.

UK ISP Giganet (M12 Solutions) has today announced that they’re moving to adopt short 30-day contract terms on their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband services, although this only applies to those they either build themselves or sell via CityFibre’s national UK network (i.e. Openreach based products aren’t covered).

Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) broadband ISP Zoom Internet, which covers a number of areas in West Sussex (e.g. Bognor Regis), appears to be planning to build their own gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network. The plan will focus on poorly served rural areas, where speeds are sub-10Mbps and no other upgrade plan exists.
