Alternative network operator and ISP Grain (Grain Connect), which has already grown their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover 220,000 premises RFS (21st May 2024) and 30,000 customers, has today announced that they’ve put their service live in part of Brighton (East Sussex, England).

Nearly three years have passed since CityFibre first started rolling out their gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the Cathedral City of Chichester in South East England (West Sussex). The good news is that they’ve now passed 12,000 premises and are “fast approaching around 85% coverage of the city“.

It’s been a couple of years since CityFibre first started rolling out their 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the West Sussex seaside town of Bognor Regis (here). But the operator has today revealed that they’re now expanding their build into the areas of Middleton-on-Sea, Elmer Sand and Flansham.

Alternative network builder and gigabit broadband ISP toob, which is deploying a full fibre (FTTP) network across parts of South England (they’re also sharing some of CityFibre’s infrastructure), has recently revealed that they’ve managed to grow their customer base to over 50,000 (up from 20,000 a year ago).

Network builder and UK ISP CommunityFibre, which runs a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across London, as well as parts of Surrey and West Sussex, has today joined forces with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to provide “free access to 100% full fibre broadband” to eligible Londoners struggling to get online.

A new survey of residents in housing schemes across Hastings (East Sussex), which was jointly conducted by altnet ISP Lightning Fibre, the Orbit Housing Association and the Complete Technology Group, has revealed a “stark lack of awareness” of what full fibre broadband is (51% had little to no understanding and 87% of residents wanted to learn more about it).

CityFibre has today secured another five of the UK government’s Project Gigabit broadband rollout contracts, totalling over £394m. The deals will spread their full fibre (FTTP) ISP network to over 202,000 hard to reach premises across parts of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Sussex, Kent, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire & Milton Keynes.

The Raven Housing Trust, which owns and manages more than 7,000 homes across the South East of England, has agreed a deal that will see Complete Fibre deploy their open access full fibre infrastructure across the company’s estate of rented and shared ownership homes in Surrey and Sussex.

Eastbourne-based broadband ISP Lightning Fibre, which is rolling out a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across parts of Sussex and Kent in England, appears to have responded to CityFibre’s recent move to launch faster tiers by adding a new 2.5Gbps (symmetric) product tier for residential customers on its network too.
