Network operator and UK ISP Briant Broadband, which has deployed their own Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network in the seaside town of Worthing (West Sussex, England), have announced the launch of their own eSIM and physical SIM based mobile service via a selection of flexible 5G mobile plans on a simple 30-day rolling contract.
The Briant Mobile service, which is being powered by data2go.mobi‘s platform, is said to be intended to support customers far beyond the geographic footprint of their own fixed broadband network. Alongside its UK mobile plans, Briant said they will also offer flexible Travel eSIMs for customers who need connectivity abroad.
In terms of their UK focused SIM-only plans, Briant offers a selection of packages starting at £10 per month for 5GB of data (includes unlimited calls and texts) and that rises to £22.50 for their top unlimited data plan. But those prices are only for Briant’s existing customers, while non-customers will pay slightly more (up to £2.50 per month extra).

Sadly, there’s no mention of any inclusive EU roaming and the pricing is perhaps not as competitive as some others we’ve seen, which could make it a tough sell for savvy consumers in today’s competitive market.
Adrian Bain, MD of Briant Broadband, said:
“Broadband will remain at the heart of what we do, but customers don’t live their lives on one connection.
They move between home broadband, mobile data, work, travel and Wi-Fi every day. We wanted Briant to be able to follow the customer beyond the front door.
The interesting thing for us wasn’t simply adding another product. It was finding a way to enter mobile that made commercial sense for an independent ISP of our size.”
The announcement doesn’t mention what underlying mobile network this service will use, although Briant did later confirm that it is VodafoneThree (Vodafone and Three UK).
