The large West Sussex town of East Grinstead, which is home to around 27,000 people, looks set to be the next to benefit from Virgin Media’s new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, which will start in the south of the town but then rapidly expand across the outer area.

Cityfibre has announced that they’ve begun their £25m project to roll-out a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband network across the District of Adur and Borough of Worthing in West Sussex, which is being supported by UK ISP partner Vodafone (with TalkTalk expected to follow later).

The West Sussex County Council (WSCC) has approved a new public investment of £20 million (mostly funded by last year’s business rates deal) to support their new “Full Fibre Programme,” which aims to increase “full fibre” and maximise coverage of gigabit-capable broadband services across the county.

The Brighton and Hove City Council (BHCC) in East Sussex has agreed to invest £1.66m into a new 3 mile long fibre optic ring network in the centre of Brighton, which will be used to connect up key public sector sites in the city centre with the Brighton Digital Exchange (BDX) and a 5G mobile test bed at New England House.

Last year a new full fibre developer called F&W Networks, which is being supported by retail ISP partner Hey!Broadband (H!B), cropped up with an aspiration of deploying a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to over 1 million UK premises by 2024 (here). Now their first roll-out seems destined for Horsham.

The Chichester District Council (CDC) in West Sussex (England) has confirmed their intention to enter into a new agreement with Cityfibre, which will see the operator extend their roll-out of a new “full fibre” Ethernet and broadband network in the cathedral city in order to help it cover a further 50 public sector sites.

Thousands of additional homes in Surrey and West Sussex (England) look set to benefit after UK ISP Box Broadband confirmed that they had secured significant new investment from high net worth individuals, which will enable them to expand their unlimited 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network.

Lately we’ve been seeing a lot of new “full fibre” providers launch and now another one, Lightning Fibre, looks set to join the fray. The ISP appears to be initially targeting the roll-out of their 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband network toward the Eastbourne area of East Sussex.

The Crawley Borough Council have announced that West Sussex (England) has been successful in its bid to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), which means that 75% of business rates collected can now be kept locally. Most of the extra money will go toward Gigabit broadband upgrades.

Within the next week Cityfibre will finally begin the deployment of a new 1Gbps+ fibre optic broadband and Ethernet network in West Sussex, which aims to connect 152 council sites in Bognor Regis, Burgess Hill, Chichester, Crawley, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Littlehampton, Shoreham and Worthing.

A new UK ISP called Box Broadband has recently entered the market and they’re working to build a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based network to connect rural homes and businesses around Surrey (Surrey Hills), which in the future could be followed by similar areas in West Sussex and Hampshire (England).
