Contract-free UK mobile operator VOXI, a sibling of Vodafone UK, has extended their special “VOXI For Now” tariff, which offers a 5G (mobile broadband) plan with unlimited data, calls and texts for just £10 a month, for up to 6 months, to anyone who has lost their job as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The original tariff, which normally costs £35 per month, was only supposed to be available until 31st January 2021 and was open to anyone (not just the under 25s) currently claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or employment based Universal Credit. But this has just been extended for another 6 months until 31st October 2021 (existing customers).
Meanwhile, new customers will be able to sign-up until 31st September 2021. With unemployment at its highest figure for five years and 1.7 million people in the UK unemployed (ONS 2021), the plan is designed to help reduce monthly outgoings for those who are most financially vulnerable.

Kudo’s to VF for supporting many during a frustrating and harder time for low income users.
Subsidising failure only encourages more of it.
Failure? My friend is unemployed and has not worked for 12 years.
He’s also worth more than you ever dream of.
I bet your wife is just waiting to get with someone else – you sound like a right twonk!
“He’s also worth more than you ever dream of.”
So their retired?
This guy is a twonk
Yes I’m thinking about losing my job to save a bit on my mobile bill thanks to this “subsidy”, that seems a sensible plan.
Wait no, that would be dumb, like this post.
@Rich
Not for a mobile contract alone but there are many whoes career involves collecting benefits and some cases having kids for the sole purpose of increasing the payout.
Not fair. How many are out of work due to the pandemic through no fault of their own? This at least helps.
Remember most of us, and I am sure you are too; are just a few pay checks away from the street. Some are 3 months, some are 6 months, but none of us here are THAT rich that we are totally immune to an economic disaster.
Be nice on the way up remember. You don’t know who you will need on the way down.
I’m way more worried about tax dodging millionaires than families claiming benefits. After all, even if I have to pay for the kids through my taxes now, I’m just paying for future taxpayers, who will pay for me in retirement.
I don’t want kids of my own, so happy to make sure other kids have a roof and food.
I got ESA income based in the support group ongoing awards – been submitted with screenshot of ESA letter but heard nothing back from VOXI. Unable to get in touch with them. Waste of my time.
If you have uploaded the evidence it will tell you right away. You sure you did it right?
It’s didn’t tell u straight away?
Yeah I was sent an email last night inviting me to go back on. So I did – thanks Voxi 😉
So get 2 sims from Argos – sign up now and then sign up on in September – and so you get it for 12 months – bargain!.
Always someone that wants to abuse goodwill isn’t there.
@JP – won’t be long until Anna soon comes on complaining about the network being trash etc all while themselves and plenty others are abusing the goodwill of VF.
@JP
Just goes to prove my point above, subsidise failure, get more of it.
@mike – I’m not sure what you mean by your statement, it could be taken atleast two ways, I like to think that your not calling people like my myself failures because we work skilled jobs that don’t provide fixed contracts and only pay minimum wage meaning we have to have Universal Credit on our lives to avoid losing everything when the theirs a month with reduced hours available.
I like to think that your saying Vodafone are subsidising the current and previous governments failures of ensuring citizens are able to gain fulfilling employment.
I hope your not tarring everybody that using benefits system in some fashion as failures, that would be like saying anybody that uses NHS for treatment are also failures… It’s is a benefit too remember.
AQX – Most likely, people like to troll after there own gluttony, the humouring part is that it’s a form a benefit fraud and voxi aren’t stupid, they’ll clock on to this fairly easy.
