Grayshott Gigabit Fibre Build Starts for East Hampshire and Surrey Hills

Back in the Spring we reported (here) that a new Morden-based broadband ISP called Grayshott Gigabit had been setup with the goal of rolling out a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across rural areas in the East Hampshire, Surrey Hills and surrounding areas. Happily, the build is now well underway.

The demand-led deployment, which is being at least partly funded by the Government’s (Building Digital UK) gigabit voucher scheme, originally planned to start Phase 1 of their rollout during the summer in the Grayshott, Hindhead and Beacon Hill areas.

The good news is that the first engineering survey and preparation work for these initial areas finally kicked off on 8th September 2021, which was soon followed by the first street works around Grayshott and Hindhead. So far, several hundred premises have already been passed with their fibre network, albeit not yet ready for service.

The operator’s Main Spine network is still being built, which needs to be finished before the first customers can go live. At present the provider aims to complete the fibre rollout of the spine and tributary roads, around 10km of rollout in ducts & poles, in the “coming weeks“.

We’ll also be hosting open days at our office to share the progress of the build and to answer any questions the community may have in the coming weeks, please subscribe to get alerts for the upcoming Open Days at our office in Hindhead,” said Grayshott Gigabit in a statement.

Once live, residential packages will start at £39 per month on a 24-month term for an unlimited symmetric speed 100Mbps package, which includes a free installation and wireless router, and this goes up to £89 for 1.5Gbps, albeit on an 18-month term.
