Former Virgin Media Director Becomes CFO of Rural ISP Voneus

Rural focused UK broadband ISP Voneus, which is currently busy spreading their fixed wireless (FWA) and Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) networks across rural parts of 20 counties, has managed to appoint one of Virgin Media’s former Central Finance Directors, Ed Dannan, to be its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The provider, supported by investment from Macquarie Capital, currently holds a “near term” target to connect 100,000 homes in rural areas to their new full fibre network (here). But their exact rollout plan remains somewhat of a mystery, and trying to even get basic package details out of their website is annoyingly difficult.

Nevertheless, Voneus is clearly willing to spend on the right talent and to that end they’ve managed to bag Ed Dannan from Virgin Media, where he was the central finance director during the integration planning process ahead of VM’s £31bn merger with O2. Prior to that, he also held senior roles at EE and T-Mobile.

Ed said:

“Having previously supported the delivery of previous generations of digital infrastructure to the UK, I believe Voneus is in a perfect position to usher in a new era of rural connectivity.

I’m excited to join the team and continue the excellent work to bridge the digital divide which exists between the UK’s urban and regional localities.

Rural communities have been neglected for far too long by the traditional providers, and I’m delighted to be in a position to drive Voneus’ mission to change the status quo.

By executing our plan, we will continue to not only provide high-quality service to our customers, but provide foundations which will further boost the nation’s future economic success.”

End.
