ISP BrawBand Expands its FTTP Broadband Reach in Scotland
Inverness-based ISP BrawBand (HighNet), which currently sells home broadband services over CityFibre’s Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network in cities such as Inverness, Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Edinburgh, has today announced that they plan to double the coverage of their service by adding several additional areas.
Under the new plan, BrawBand will work to provide its gigabit broadband service to properties in Aberdeen, Dundee and Stirling. On top of that, they’ll be extending the availability of their existing services in Edinburgh and Glasgow (likely a reflection of CityFibre’s growing coverage), now covering all postcodes within the central belt cities.
Overall, this should put around 500,000 Scottish properties within range of being able to order their CityFibre based packages.

To coincide with the expanded rollout, BrawBand has also launched three new full fibre broadband packages – The Bairn, The Pure Rapid One, and The Belter. Prices start at £27.95 per month for The Bairn package, which offers 160Mbps (symmetric) speeds, a 24-month term, free installation and a somewhat outdated WiFi 5 router. The Pure Rapid One (these names..) then kicks those speeds up to 900Mbps for just £29.95 per month (discounted from £36) and the top ‘Belter’ plan adds a better WiFi 6 router, Mesh system and Static IP address to that for £38.95 per month (discounted from £45).

Did they ask a jaikie coming out of the pub at kicking out time to come up with the names of those packages to show how “Scottish” of an ISP they are?
I see their prices have changed as previously they only had one 900MB package which was a cost of £49.94. Think they must have realised now that kind of price is way ridiculous as most new FTTP firms in City Fibre tend to be around £30 ball park for a 900MB connection.
I just left them as my 24 months ended and had been paying the £49.94 for the last 24 months as they were only provider who launched with City Fibre from day 1 going back two years.
Asked them for a renewal price and was told would stay at £49.94 for another two years at which point I left to switch for a £30 900MB package with another City Fibre package. Was even more annoying as they said the new cheaper price is only open to new customers even though I been paying best part £50 as a loyal customer for last two years…
Old story of loyalty counts for nothing…
Also as a side note for anyone that knows and @Mark these new City Fibre connections and providers don’t seem to be able to do an active line takeover as Openreach does.
I had to cancel my Brawband for one day and have my new supplier go live the next day which meant a day of no connection… Not the end of the world I know but surely they can get their act together to have a porting system like on the Openreach network?

Highnet sell only business services (on both OR & CF), Brawband is their residential arm but only on CF.
