The incumbent telecoms provider for Hull in Yorkshire (England), KC, has announced that it will boost its customers broadband ISP download allowances from tomorrow (1st August 2012), with some subscribers expected to receive double what they had before.
The upgrade, which is being offered “absolutely free of charge“, will see some packages gaining only a small boost and others seeing a massive jump. For example, existing customers of the Karoo Lite service will see their allowance increased from 5GB (GigaBytes) to 6GB. By comparison subscribers to the top-end KCHome Xtra bundle will go from 150GB to 300GB.

In a brief statement KC said, “We know you want to do more of the things you love online without the worry of hitting a usage limit – so we’ve looked at how we can help you do that.” As a side note, users of the KCHome Xtra bundle can add the KCConnect service and gain “truly unlimited broadband” with “No fair usage policy – just as much data as you like when you like“.
The KC Connect service offers to send out an engineer to help owners of the latest Smart TV’s connect them to the internet and also offers to double the subscribers existing usage allowance (more details).
