Yorkshire-based Fixed Wireless ISP Quickline Communications has claimed that it will be able to bring superfast internet download speeds of up to 40Mbps to 100% of the “worst served broadband areas” in rural north and north east Lincolnshire by the end of 2012.
The operator reports that their latest mast at Caistor already delivers 85% coverage, leaving just the “really hard to get to valleys” before 100% coverage can be achieved. Homes and businesses in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Laceby and surrounding areas will be the primary beneficiaries of this work.
Gaynor Lawn, Director of Quickline Communications, said:
“Investment in our own network built on leading edge technology means that we can be highly competitive in the broadband marketplace without asking for Government investment. Our infrastructure, which covers parts of South Yorkshire to Bridlington and the South Bank of the Humber, continues to increase at an average rate of 100 Square miles per month. We use next generation technology with a small non-invasive device, fixed to the roof by our engineers. This then securely connects back to the nearest transmitter site without the need for a telephone line.
The new mast at Caistor marks a significant milestone for Quickline as the final, easy to reach part of the Humber region. Business parks that had, until now, been subjected to a poor quality connection (particularly in rural areas) can now enjoy Broadband that is up to 20 times faster than what they’re used to. We know this has a positive impact on how a business operates day-to-day.”
A quick visit to the ISPs website reveals that its AIRFibre Home package charges £27.50 inc. VAT per month for a symmetric 10Mbps connection with a free wifi and “unlimited” usage. The addition of a 30-day money back guarantee also helps but customers will still need to shell out for a hefty £195.00 one-off installation fee.
