Ryde-based UK broadband ISP Go Internet has, in an unexpected development, revealed that they’ve just completed the deployment of their own gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to reach the rural community of Chale, which is a scenic village on the south-west coast of the Isle of Wight (England).
At present the dominant full fibre networks on the island are run by Openreach and WightFibre. In fact, WightFibre has already deployed their network to reach at least part of Chale. By comparison Go Internet have long operated a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network across part of the island, but they now seem to be doing more full fibre.
The provider’s Managing Director, Trevor Cook, has just confirmed that they’ve “officially lit our Full Fibre network in Chale“, which he claims is a community that has been “left behind” when it comes to modern digital connectivity.

The announcement only seems to confirm that they’ve connected “The Hub“, which is described as being “an important community asset in the heart of the village” (i.e. it’s a modern community facility located at Spanners Close). But ISPreview did some checks of other postcodes in the village and found that the new network is already available to other nearby homes.
Trevor Cook, MD of Go Internet, said:
“Chale is a village that has been left behind when it comes to connectivity. Some homes and businesses are still relying on ADSL, while others have had to make do with patchy 4G [mobile broadband] connections.
Today, we connected The Hub — an important community asset in the heart of the village, and one we’ve been particularly excited to get online.
Having muddled through with a mobile dongle, they’re understandably over the moon to now have ultrafast, low-latency Full Fibre broadband that just works.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about building our own fibre network into communities where better broadband can make a genuine difference.”
According to Cook, the provider’s deployment is “only the beginning” and they’re currently planning to connect “many more rural communities“, which in some cases seems likely to put them into direct competition with one or both of the island’s more established networks.
In terms of package choice, monthly prices start at £25 for a symmetric 100Mbps speed package with a Wi-Fi 6 router on a 24-month term with free installation, which rises to just £40 if you want their top 900Mbps package.
