Cable operator Virgin Media UK has moved to make the “super-vans” used by its “top performing” broadband and phone engineers look a little more colourful by re-painting their “super-fleet” with various movie-themed styles. The first one is clearly inspired by the Thunderbirds TV show.
Sadly a change of van style is unlikely to improve their broadband service quality, which has recently been suffering due to peering problems, but it might at least deflect some attention away from the recent criticism surrounding the notoriously misleading advertising gaffes.
Maurice Daw, Virgin’s Executive Director of Access, said:
“We are really excited about the latest additions to our super-fleet, we know how proud our engineers are when they’re driving around in these bespoke vans. Although they won’t be fighting ghosts or worrying about avoiding any T-Rex’s we are confident they will make our customers smile!”
Apparently the other super-vans in Virgin Media’s “film-tastic fleet” will also be re-painted to look like the Jurassic Park jeep, the Batmobile, speedy Lightning McQueen from Cars and Optimus Prime (leader of the Autobots in Transformers).
Virgin added that its engineers “consistently deliver exceptional levels of customer service“, though some might disagree.
