Budget ISP Direct Save Telecom has moved to undercut its rivals by slashing the cost of their super-cheap broadband and phone bundle to £1.95 per month (plus line rental from £9.95 per month), which now comes with an “unlimited” usage allowance, free UK weekend / evening calls and a free router.
The package, which use to include a 20GB usage allowance, does however require customers to commit to a lengthy 24 month contract and you’ll also need to pay a £24.95 setup fee. Likewise the new price is only available to customers in DST’s “low cost network area” and those who fall outside of this (usually the last 10% or so of UK rural areas) will have to pay £14.95 per month.

The new prices and package will be effective from 1st June 2013, although they’re currently already showing on the ISPs websites. As usual we must stress that pricing broadband so low, especially an “unlimited” solution, doesn’t leave much room for investment in future technology, support or capacity upgrades. So don’t expect a high quality service for such a small price.
