Sea Fibre Networks has today launched the carrier-neutral METRO2C Alliance, which aims to bring the UK and Europe’s top fibre optic connectivity providers (i.e. those with a “dense fibre footprint and wide product choice“), data centre operators and Internet exchanges under a single Service Level Agreement (SLA).
The move is designed to cut costs for terrestrial and submarine networks by removing the need to agree and manage multiple, complex Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Diane Hodnett, CEO of Sea Fibre Networks, said:
“Connectivity, data centre and Internet Exchange services are critical elements of the Internet and aligning them seamlessly is at the core of the METRO2C strategy. This strategic Alliance demonstrates SFN’s commitment to carrier-neutrality further minimising dependency on single operators and ensuring the customer is always at the forefront of choosing the best suited solution design.
Over the next couple of months we will be pleased to announce the first members of the METRO2C Alliance that service Europe’s booming business & Internet hubs.”
Sea Fibre currently operates a multi-fibre cable (CeltixConnect) that runs from Dublin (Ireland) to Holyhead in Wales (UK), although Ofcom recently granted Code Powers that will allow SFN to expand and lease Dark Fibre lines in both major UK urban and rural areas to other ISPs or large corporate customers (here). New routes for Munich, Zurich, Brussels, Hamburg, Copenhagen and Stockholm are also in the pipeline.
