Fixed wireless ISP Kijoma Broadband, which last year announced that its network would be expanded into parts of Staffordshire (England), has confirmed that it’s submitted an application to build a new mast that would cover the village of Anslow.
At present the village is home to around 700 people and has long suffered from a lack of good broadband connectivity via BT’s fixed line service. Likewise it’s feared that the publicly funded plans to upgrade Staffordshire’s telecoms network will take too long to arrive or could miss out Anslow and a number of similar locations.

As reported last year (here), Kijoma has already begun to move into the county and several masts at Tatenhill and Rangemore have already been installed. According to the Burton Mail, the new mast would be installed at the Anslow Business Park.
Michael Brough, Burton Aerials (Kijoma Installer), said:
“People use the internet for everything and they are struggling, It’s one of those essential things and the service needs to be delivered.”
If Kijoma’s service is anything like the one they installed in Tatenhill then locals should soon be given access to superfast broadband speeds of up to 40Mbps (Megabits per second). Prices would then start from £13.99 inc. VAT per month for a 5GB usage allowance (bigger packages are also available) on a 12 month contract. Installation costs can vary but are usually around £80+, depending upon the availability of local grants.
As before Kijoma has called on any interested villages to register their demand with the ISP and it’s understood that many locals in Hanbury and Rosliston have already done just that.
