Cable provider Virgin Media has launched a new “Helping Hands” channel on YouTube today that’s designed to help its home customers make the most of their broadband connections and other services.
The channel contains 66 videos, which have been split into three different categories for help and advice (‘problem solving’, ‘tips and tricks’ and ‘product discovery’).

Most of these videos include simple step-by-step instructions on all sorts of topics, from how to swap wifi channels to improving the speed of your broadband connection (mostly they just tell you to download during off-peak periods and to use a wired rather than wifi connection).
Alex Brown, VM’s Head of Broadband Product Experience, told ISPreview.co.uk:
“We want to make sure our customers get the most out of their services so we created the Virgin Media Helping Hands channel to talk through and demonstrate some of the great features, hints and tips we want everyone to know about. Customers can find out about everything from the great things available on TiVo, to what ‘dual band’ means and how to change their wireless channel to ensure they’re always enjoying our superfast broadband speeds.”
We think channels like this are a wonderful idea for helping those who might find videos to be easier to understand than simply reading the manual. If successful then it could also take some pressure off Virgin Media’s customer support desk. Now about improving your broadband speed..
