Oxfordshire-based EuropaSat (SSW) has signed a new agreement that will allow them to add a new range of ‘up to’ 20Mbps Ka-band based satellite broadband products from SES (ASTRA) to their existing portfolio of home and business packages, which already includes services from Eutelsat (KA-SAT) and Avanti (HYLAS).
Customers in the United Kingdom who choose to take one of the SES Broadband packages will also get access to a range of ground based services including online ordering, pre- and post-sales support, logistics and maintenance, all directly via the EuropaSat.com website.

Patrick Biewer, MD of SES Broadband Services, said:
“The new partnership with EuropaSat is great news for us and customers alike. Our Ka-band solution exceeds average terrestrial broadband download speeds by quite a margin and is also very competitively priced. This is the second ISP to begin offering services using capacity from one of our birds over the UK. It will be the underserved consumer who will benefit the most.”
Europasat launched a couple of months ago (here) and are somewhat unique in the market as they offer Satellite broadband packages from all of the major consumer focused operators in Europe, although this does create some confusion as each platform uses a different policy and requires very different hardware.
Similarly it should be said that other satellite ISPs may still be able to offer the same services for less, always shop around first (Satellite ISP Listings). On the other hand their SES Broadband L package offers speeds of up to 20Mbps with a 10GB usage allowance for £22.99 a month (plus £299.99 for the hardware and a £24.99 connection fee). The top “unlimited” package is a more expensive £69.99. Sadly the page fails to mention whether this is inc. or +vat.
